<h3 data-start="454" data-end="477">💕 Hello PWN Family!</h3><p data-start="1653" data-end="1852">I’m currently <strong data-start="1667" data-end="1688">31 weeks pregnant</strong>, and let me just say this: if you’ve ever been handed 100 grams of glucose and told to drink it in 5 minutes — you know this is not your average prenatal check-in.</p><p data-start="1854" data-end="2123">This pregnancy continues to challenge and teach me in ways I never expected. Living with narcolepsy while navigating pregnancy is hard enough. Add a <strong data-start="2003" data-end="2036">3-hour glucose tolerance test</strong> and gestational diabetes into the mix, and it becomes a whole new level of complexity.</p><p data-start="2125" data-end="2222">But like always — I’m still here, still moving forward, and still learning every step of the way.</p><h3 data-start="2229" data-end="2266">💉 Failing the First Glucose Test</h3><p data-start="2268" data-end="2452">I didn’t pass my <strong data-start="2285" data-end="2310">one-hour glucose test</strong>. It came back about 10 points above the limit, and while I didn’t feel like it was drastically high, my care team wasn’t comfortable with it.</p><p data-start="2454" data-end="2507">So that meant the next step: the <strong data-start="2487" data-end="2507">three-hour test.</strong></p><h3 data-start="2514" data-end="2553">⏳ The 3-Hour Glucose Tolerance Test</h3><p data-start="2555" data-end="2656">Let’s talk about that test.<br data-start="2582" data-end="2585" />I drank 100 grams of glucose in under five minutes. It hit me <strong data-start="2647" data-end="2655">hard</strong>.</p><p data-start="2658" data-end="2883">I became clammy, sweaty, and lightheaded — and I had to lie down for nearly the entire test. And yes, baby <strong data-start="2765" data-end="2780">Eliana Jane</strong> didn’t like it either. She was moving, shifting, and responding strongly the whole time. It was a lot.</p><h3 data-start="2890" data-end="2931">📊 Understanding Gestational Diabetes</h3><p data-start="2933" data-end="3176">The thing about <strong data-start="2949" data-end="2973">gestational diabetes</strong> is that it’s not always caused by lifestyle. It’s often just a result of hormones from the placenta. Your body spikes sugar into the bloodstream, but the insulin response doesn’t cross over to the baby.</p><p data-start="3178" data-end="3315">What that means: even small spikes in my morning glucose — say 96 or 104 instead of under 95 — are taken seriously for the baby’s safety.</p><h3 data-start="3322" data-end="3346">💡 Learning to Adapt</h3><p data-start="3348" data-end="3581">To better manage this, I invested in a <strong data-start="3387" data-end="3423">continuous glucose monitor (CGM)</strong>. It’s a small sensor on my arm that gives real-time feedback. It doesn’t hurt, and it’s helped me understand how food, timing, and medication impact my body.</p><p data-start="3583" data-end="3633">With that knowledge, I’ve made some small changes:</p><ul data-start="3634" data-end="3915"><li data-start="3634" data-end="3730"><p data-start="3636" data-end="3730">I now eat <strong data-start="3646" data-end="3682">a small protein snack before bed</strong> — Greek yogurt or almond butter, not ice cream.</p></li><li data-start="3731" data-end="3820"><p data-start="3733" data-end="3820">I’ve spaced out my meals into smaller, more regular intervals — even if I’m not hungry.</p></li><li data-start="3821" data-end="3915"><p data-start="3823" data-end="3915">I’m learning how to stabilize my levels without disrupting my narcolepsy treatment schedule.</p></li></ul><p data-start="3917" data-end="4022">This approach has made me feel <strong data-start="3948" data-end="3983">more confident, more in control</strong>, and most importantly — more prepared.</p><h3 data-start="4029" data-end="4082">💜 Narcolepsy + Pregnancy = A Daily Balancing Act</h3><p data-start="4084" data-end="4194">If you’re living with <strong data-start="4106" data-end="4146">narcolepsy or idiopathic hypersomnia</strong> while pregnant, please know: you are not alone.</p><p data-start="4196" data-end="4327">It’s a complex situation. Meds affect meals. Fatigue is constant. And sometimes, your body just doesn’t follow the &#8220;normal&#8221; script.</p><p data-start="4329" data-end="4494">But here’s the truth: <strong data-start="4351" data-end="4412">gestational diabetes doesn’t mean you did anything wrong.</strong><br data-start="4412" data-end="4415" />It’s not your fault — and it’s manageable, with the right care and information.</p><p data-start="4496" data-end="4706">If you’re going through it, or if you’ve been through a similar journey, I’d love to hear your story. <strong data-start="4598" data-end="4625">Drop it in the comments</strong> — your experience could make someone else feel seen, understood, and encouraged.</p><h3 data-start="4713" data-end="4731">👶 Baby Update</h3><p data-start="4733" data-end="4905">Eliana Jane is doing well, growing strong, and keeping me on my toes — especially now that I’ve figured out how not to knock off the glucose monitor every time I roll over!</p><p data-start="4907" data-end="5018">We’re in the home stretch now, and I’ll keep sharing updates as we head toward the third trimester finish line.</p><h4 data-start="2491" data-end="2517">💌 Let’s Stay Connected</h4><p data-start="2519" data-end="2616">I’ve loved reading your messages and comments — thank you for being part of this journey with me.</p><p data-start="2618" data-end="2662">If you’d like to keep up with these updates:</p><ul data-start="2663" data-end="2898"><li data-start="2663" data-end="2761"><p data-start="2665" data-end="2761">📺 <a class="decorated-link" href="https://www.youtube.com/@PWN4PWN" target="_new" rel="noopener" data-start="2668" data-end="2744"><strong data-start="2669" data-end="2693">Subscribe on YouTube</strong></a> for future vlogs</p></li><li data-start="2762" data-end="2824"><p data-start="2764" data-end="2824">📨 <strong data-start="2767" data-end="2792">Join our newsletter below</strong></p></li><li data-start="2825" data-end="2898"><p data-start="2827" data-end="2898">✍️ <strong data-start="2830" data-end="2863">Want to share your own story?</strong> Submit using the form on this page</p></li></ul><h4 data-start="2905" data-end="2928"> </h4><h4 data-start="2905" data-end="2928">💤 Stay naptastic,</h4><p data-start="2929" data-end="2937"><strong data-start="2929" data-end="2937">Jane</strong></p> </div>

But the heartburn? Out of control. Even water sets it off.</p><p data-start="1066" data-end="1198">Bananas, almond butter, alkaline water — all no-go foods for me right now.<br data-start="1140" data-end="1143" />My safest option? Italian wedding soup. And lots of it.</p><h4 data-start="1205" data-end="1240">⚖️ Weight Check-ins and Wellness</h4><p data-start="1242" data-end="1391">One thing I’ve been keeping an eye on is my weight. Even deep into my second trimester, the scale hasn’t moved much. If anything, I’ve lost a little.</p><p data-start="1393" data-end="1573">Thankfully, my doctors aren’t worried. They reminded me that most weight gain typically happens in the third trimester. Baby girl is healthy and active, which is what matters most.</p><h4 data-start="1580" data-end="1607">📸 Ultrasound Highlights</h4><p data-start="1609" data-end="1787">At our latest ultrasound, she was bouncing around so much that the tech had trouble getting a clear image. We still got a few “glamour shots,” and seeing her profile was surreal.</p><p data-start="1789" data-end="1911">If the old wives’ tales are true, all this heartburn means she’s coming out with a full head of hair — just like her mama.</p><h4 data-start="1918" data-end="1960">😴 Managing Narcolepsy During Pregnancy</h4><p data-start="1962" data-end="2047">On top of all the usual pregnancy symptoms, I’m managing narcolepsy, too. It’s a lot.</p><p data-start="2049" data-end="2060">What helps:</p><ul data-start="2061" data-end="2184"><li data-start="2061" data-end="2086"><p data-start="2063" data-end="2086">Getting structured rest</p></li><li data-start="2087" data-end="2126"><p data-start="2089" data-end="2126">Staying honest about my energy limits</p></li><li data-start="2127" data-end="2155"><p data-start="2129" data-end="2155">Practicing self-compassion</p></li><li data-start="2156" data-end="2184"><p data-start="2158" data-end="2184">Celebrating the small wins</p></li></ul><p data-start="2186" data-end="2279">Some days are smoother than others, but I’m learning to listen to my body in a whole new way.</p><h4 data-start="2286" data-end="2305">📅 Looking Ahead</h4><p data-start="2307" data-end="2484">I’ve got another checkup next week, and I’m both nervous and excited to see how much she’s grown. For now, I’m focusing on rest, hydration, health, and a whole lot of gratitude.</p><h4 data-start="2491" data-end="2517">💌 Let’s Stay Connected</h4><p data-start="2519" data-end="2616">I’ve loved reading your messages and comments — thank you for being part of this journey with me.</p><p data-start="2618" data-end="2662">If you’d like to keep up with these updates:</p><ul data-start="2663" data-end="2898"><li data-start="2663" data-end="2761"><p data-start="2665" data-end="2761">📺 <a class="decorated-link" href="https://www.youtube.com/@PWN4PWN" target="_new" rel="noopener" data-start="2668" data-end="2744"><strong data-start="2669" data-end="2693">Subscribe on YouTube</strong></a> for future vlogs</p></li><li data-start="2762" data-end="2824"><p data-start="2764" data-end="2824">📨 <strong data-start="2767" data-end="2792">Join our newsletter below</strong></p></li><li data-start="2825" data-end="2898"><p data-start="2827" data-end="2898">✍️ <strong data-start="2830" data-end="2863">Want to share your own story?</strong> Submit using the form on this page</p></li></ul><h4 data-start="2905" data-end="2928"> </h4><h4 data-start="2905" data-end="2928">💤 Stay naptastic,</h4><p data-start="2929" data-end="2937"><strong data-start="2929" data-end="2937">Jane</strong></p> </div>

I was sipping a glass of Prosecco when I suddenly felt sick — like, <strong data-start="1279" data-end="1308">&#8220;this drink might be bad&#8221;</strong> level of nausea.</p><p data-start="1327" data-end="1370">Alan, my partner, looked at me and asked,</p><blockquote data-start="1371" data-end="1409"><p data-start="1373" data-end="1409">“Are you sure you’re not expecting?”</p></blockquote><p data-start="1411" data-end="1550">I brushed it off because I had taken a test that Sunday (I was tracking regularly). But something nudged me to test again the next morning.</p><h4 data-start="1557" data-end="1605">✨ A Positive Test… and a Bigger Conversation</h4><p data-start="1607" data-end="1691">On <strong data-start="1610" data-end="1625">February 14</strong>, I took the test. And then I waited. And while waiting, I prayed.</p><blockquote data-start="1693" data-end="1830"><p data-start="1695" data-end="1830"><em>I remember thinking maybe God wasn’t saying I waited too long — maybe He was just saying that life would still be good, no matter wha</em>t.</p></blockquote><p data-start="1832" data-end="1909">But then&#8230; the result appeared. Positive. Everything changed in that moment.</p><h4 data-start="1916" data-end="1972">🧬 Decisions, Deadlines, and Talking to a Geneticist</h4><p data-start="1974" data-end="2177">Because of Florida&#8217;s medical policies, I knew I had very little time to make important decisions if I needed to. So I immediately asked for consults with a <strong data-start="2130" data-end="2144">geneticist</strong> and a <strong data-start="2151" data-end="2176">medication specialist</strong>.</p><p data-start="2179" data-end="2272">USF Health had me on a call in just two days. I’ll never forget what the geneticist asked me:</p><blockquote data-start="2274" data-end="2312"><p data-start="2276" data-end="2312">“Jane, what is really your concern?”</p></blockquote><p data-start="2314" data-end="2331">My honest answer?</p><blockquote data-start="2333" data-end="2373"><p data-start="2335" data-end="2373">“If the baby’s not born with a skull…”</p></blockquote><p data-start="2375" data-end="2523">I know. Dramatic. But it was coming from a place of fear — not knowing what was ahead, how fast things were moving, and what was medically possible.</p><h4 data-start="2530" data-end="2552">🧪 The First Tests</h4><p data-start="2554" data-end="2605">So far, I’ve completed two sets of genetic testing:</p><ul data-start="2606" data-end="2661"><li data-start="2606" data-end="2629"><p data-start="2608" data-end="2629"><strong data-start="2608" data-end="2629">Carrier screening</strong></p></li><li data-start="2630" data-end="2661"><p data-start="2632" data-end="2661"><strong data-start="2632" data-end="2661">Chromosomal abnormalities</strong></p></li></ul><p data-start="2663" data-end="2716">Both came back <strong data-start="2678" data-end="2691">negative.</strong> Which was such a relief.</p><p data-start="2718" data-end="2849">At the time of recording the video, I was around 15 weeks.<br data-start="2776" data-end="2779" />Right now, I’m just taking it one day (and one appointment) at a time.</p><h4 data-start="2856" data-end="2887">💭 Looking Back (and Ahead)</h4><p data-start="2889" data-end="2982">This journey started with one quiet moment, one unexpected test, and a whole lot of feelings.</p><p data-start="2984" data-end="3146">I’ll be sharing more in future posts and videos — everything from narcolepsy + pregnancy management, to symptoms, cravings, and how I’m really doing week by week.</p><p data-start="3148" data-end="3186">But for now, this is how it all began.</p><h4 data-start="2491" data-end="2517" data-cya11y-org-font-size="24">💌 Let’s Stay Connected</h4><p data-start="3221" data-end="3311">Thanks for being here.
